These comments reminded me of a point worth mentioning that slipped my mind. Within the first hour many people, as Uzi said, report stomach pains and nausea. It will go away eventually, and once you're into the second hour you should be fine, but throwing up is not uncommon. Anyone I've known to throw up in the first hour or so has felt immediately better and had great trips.

That was common with peyote as well.  Something about strychnine on the outside of the plant, don't remember.  Never experienced that myself.

I have yet to try peyote, and will be very excited once I'm able to get my hands on some.

I've had some queasiness before, but never thrown up. It's really not that bad and doesn't last too long, so it's easy to just ride it out.

  Are you seriously on forty years having not thrown up!? You're like Seinfeld in that episode where he remembers the exact day he last threw up on, 12 years ago or whatever it was. Hats off to you, man.

Yes, seriously.  The last time I threw up was in November of 1968.  I was in basic training at Great Lakes, outside Chicago.  We got a 12 hour liberty and some of us went to Chicago.  We were in a restaurant and I had ordered some food and went to put some money in the juke box.  Behind me I heard someone say "what the hell are you doing here".  I turned around and there was a guy I used to work with in my father's restaurant when we were in high school.  I ended up leaving with him before I got to eat.  We went to an apartment that he had with a couple buddies and started drinking some green Milwaukee beer.  I ended up getting shit faced.  They took me back to the train station and put me on the train back to the base.  I started feeling sick and went out between the train cars and threw up all over the steps. 

Out of 65 guys in our company I was the only one that got drunk.  I was a hero for like a week after.

My friend and I tripped out on the mushrooms yesterday.  Big mistake.  My wife had to work so I asked my friend if he wanted to trip with me.  I made the lemon tea per Rider's suggestion and we drank it around 3:30 in the afternoon.  Our plan was to drive out to his camp site, just beyond my property and do a nature trip.  Within minutes of drinking the tea I could feel it coming on.  We loaded out stuff in his car and just made it there when it really started to hit.  We set up our lawn chairs, got settled in and now it's really hitting hard.  There were a lot of sticks laying on the ground and they started moving around like snakes.  Plus it was hot as hell, really uncomfortable.  We decided to go back to my house where we could be more comfortable in the air conditioning.  Plus I needed the security of my house.  I was really starting to loose it.  He insisted on trying to drive.  We got about 20', parked the car and started walking, carrying out coolers.  What is normally about a 10 minute walk seemed to take a half hour.  By the time we got back to the house I was totally freaking out.  I thought I was going to have to call 911.  I called my wife at work and asked her to come home.  As soon as she got there things got a little better.  I needed the security of having her there.  She stayed about an hour and got me through the peak, then went back to work.  After that it was a lot better and I was able to enjoy it more.  My friend had an easier time with it, but admitted that he also was glad to see my wife. 

We just sat at the kitchen table, talked, watched the walls move, the floor go up and down, and the wind blow through the trees.  I wanted to put some music on but couldn't decide what to play.  I kept going to the CD rack and looking, walking away, going back, etc.  Finally after about 10 trips I put on some Billie Holiday.  Perfect.  Her voice just soothed me and I really got into Lester Young's sax playing.  Around 6, when it started to cool down some we went and sat outside. We decided to walk back and get his car.  When we got back to the camp there it was, sitting there with the doors wide open.  That was pretty funny.  A storm was coming in so we went back to the house and just watched it develop, which was very cool.  When it started raining we sat in the garage with the door open and watched the rain.  Around 9 we went to another friend's house to watch his fireworks.

This was the last time that I will ever do hallucinogenics.  I came so close to totally losing it and it scared the hell out of me.  Without my wife I probably would have.   It made me realize that I'm not a kid anymore and have no business fooling around with this stuff.  I'll stick to smoking some weed.

Well i can relate muddy. I grew my shrooms and the very first flush did not do well about 10 grams wet. I enjoyed a mild trip.

The second flush produced about 70 grams wet and i did a very stupid thing ya i eat them all. My world then my mind came apart piece by piece.I ended up on the floor in the fetal position. Everthing was moving even the darkness when i closed my eyes. Just as i lost the last of my ability to cope,deep in the blackness arose a single mushroom. Inside the mushroom was a white lite that exploaded from its center. It washed over then into me with a coldness that left me terrified but with a single obsession the need too survive! That night put my life in perspective and I've been happer ever since. Well after the shock wore off.

I've tripped since many times a few times that i could only describe as being in heaven. Shrooms are allways a roll of the dice.

BTW Sorry muddy should have told you before nitrous or laughing gas is the best cure for the "fear" when shrooming.

No problem.  I wouldn't have had any way to get nitrous gas anyway.

I was still pretty buzzed yesterday and felt like shit all day.  Feeling much better today.

I've still got about 6 grams left and I'm going to give them away.  I've got no interest in taking them again and I will not let my wife take any.  After seeing what they did to me she has no interest anyway.  Had I taken a little less I probably would have been okay.  3 grams was just too much.  About 1 1/2 or 2 probably would have been okay.

Glad your feeling better. It can be a very trying experience. The problem with shrooms is the potency varies you just never know unless you mix and sample a batch. Again sorry for not telling you before.

I'm very sorry to hear about your negative trip. I was really excited for you and had my fingers crossed that it would be a fantastic trip.

I should have emphasized more the fact that it's imperative to have nothing to do or anything pressing to think about, even something as mundane as driving out and setting up lawnchairs. I once tried eating, then strapping a duffle bag to my back and biking to my friends house. I barely made it past the end of the driveway before I had to turn back, because I was just too self-aware, paranoid and otherwise stressed with things like making sure I locked the house before I left, did the dog have food, was it clean enough for when people came home...not to mention the physical high I was feeling, I just couldn't balance myself on the bike, especially with a bag of stuff pulling me down. Later that night, I got news that the mother of a very close friend had passed away, and I just spiraled down, hard. Having experienced the intensity for yourself now, you can imagine the burden that hearing such bad news while in such a state would be like. On the positive side, I had one of the strongest emotional experiences of my life, and by the end of the trip was just overcome with happiness and love.

I also regret assuming that based on your previous hallucinogenic experience, you were ready for the average dose right out of the gate. Every drug is different, and you should start small, always. I should have mentioned that, and apologize for failing to paint the whole picture of this drug.

A few people I've tripped with, including myself, have decided at some point during or after a trip that it was to be our last hallucinogenic experience. But with every trip, I've found that I learned so much about life and myself, and just gained such insight that I always come back for more, once or twice a year. Part of me feels that perseverance would reward you with positive insight, but I completely understand the desire to never touch them again. Once you've had a bad trip, the idea of mushrooms is like a monster waiting to pull you down, and it's just not worth it. That all being said, I would personally keep the remainder, just for some rainy day in 2 years time that you might decide you'd like half a gram of 'shrooms. You never know when you might get curious, and I find the're good to just have around, in case. If you truly feel that strongly about not even looking at them again, then you're doing the right thing by getting rid of them.

All in all, I'm glad nothing terrible or irreversible happened and that no one got hurt.

No need for regret or apologies.  I'm a big boy and knew what I was doing.  The setting we chose was fine, except for the heat.  It was around 90 degrees and both of use were really bothered by the heat.  Once we got back to the house and got in the air conditioning that part was fine. 

My friend was over last night and we discussed our experience.  He had a good trip, except for worrying about me.  We both agreed that a lower dose would have been better, maybe half of what we took.  He said that for him it came in waves.  I experienced that to a lesser degree.  His colors were different than mine.  While I was seeing mostly grey, black and blue he saw more in the red spectrum.  He also said that he could feel someone tugging at him, like the spirit of an ancestor.  He said it was off in his peripheral vision and he couldn't quite see who it was.  I did have a valuable insite into my relationship with my wife.  Something that I've vowed to make right.

I think my problem was that it came on so quickly, and just kept going up and up, and that's what scared me.  Once I peaked and leveled out I was okay.  I started feeling it within minutes of drinking the tea.  Even now, 3 days later, I'm still feeling it.  Mostly in my vision.  If I stare at anything for awhile I can still trip a little.  And colors still look more vibrant.

Funny thing is that since taking the schrooms I've had no desire to smoke any weed.  Haven't smoked anything since last Thursday night.
