I've seen some references to cooking kif or ground bud in coconut oil, in a slow cooker for 2 hrs. Has anyone used a crockpot with good results?

I've not tried coconut oil (I imagine it would work great) but a crock pot is the best for cooking bud butter. No worries about burning it. Give it a try, you'll love it. I usually let the butter cook about 4 to 8 hours.

Hell, crockpots are the best at cooking most things.  Use it all the time.  Very gentle heat.

durban- you run the crock on low, I assume?--I can't recall the reason for the coconut oil, but it's in  semi- solid form. Maybe combine butter and oil?

Well you need a fat to make the butter....so coconut oil would be a great source...

Yeah, I run the crock on low. I've got a question for the rest of the bakers out there: how much does a half cup of powdered bud weigh? I just made some cannabutter today with a half cup of powdered bud and two sticks of butter. I'm curious and scaleless, does someone know about how much that would be? It is a half oz, a quarter, etc? Thanx, Durban

Depends on the quality of the bud.  If it is dry and shakey, it will weigh less than some nice, heavy, resin filled shit.

Chances are nobody is gonna have strict consitency between batches of weed.  So one cup could contain XXXX% THC one day and YYYY% another.  Using a cup is just a good GENERAL way of doing it.  You will get something decent.  As opposed to using say too little (no real buzz unless you eat half a plate) or too much (too much buzz for the bite and you waste weed).

not sure if yo can really waste the weed, well i guess when you pass out from them after eating a piece that could have been effective at 1/8 the size that you ate, but then you still get really really high b4 you pass out so it is kinda a trade off

but then again coconut oil is not really a great oil for you so maybe avoid that and rely on the fat that is in the butter

I would imagine a crock pot would be perfect. I use a sort of crock pot which is actually an electric fryer my roommate got at Wal Mart. I keep it on low heat (under 200 F) for a couple hours and it kicks my ass every time. I also catch a nice buzz from inhaling the steam from under the lid, gotta be careful though because it's hot and can burn your throat.
