I am starting a small grow (just 2 or 3 plants) in the corner of my closet in the near future and it will be my first time growing. I pretty much have my set up planned out and ready to go. The one thing i'm worried about is odor. I am in college and rent a house with a few friends which means i have a land lord which worries me even though he rarely drops by. My closet is in the back corner of the house and he wont go in my room so i just need to control the odor enough that it doesnt stink up the rest of the place in case he shows up. I will obviously be running fans as well as a dehumidifier. Will this be enough? if not, any ideas to help?

Make sure that you have EVERYTHING sealed tight! I use a phat filter on a vortex 747 and it still smells like dank, make sure your shit is tight and you have good intake and great ventilation, and another thing to remember, "He who is without is usually jealous" so the less people who know, the less paranoid you'll be. Good luck and sleep well knowing no one knows.

Prolonged exposure to Ozone can be harmnful to humans.  Ran mine in the grow room this summer and it liked to have killed me so be careful.

^^ yes indeed. Also be careful of how you use it, ozone in the room with your plants can rob them of their smell..

Whats a 747 Vortex, can you get it at home depot? And can you put me in the right direction for DIY carbon filters? My bf has 4 plants growing in a closet, it smells, and he lives in an up stairs appartment unit.

A vortex is a brand name in-line fan, the #747 stands for the cfm (cubic feet per minute) it can move out of the room. I am not sure about a diy carbon filter, i guess it would be like making a silencer. Look on the net I'm sure you'll find something.

For directions to make a cheap and easy carbon filter, click here. It would also help to hang some room deodorizers around the apartment, but he needs a filter or two in the closet, to neutralize that odor.

If he does not have those plants concealed, he should rig a cabinet or something to grow them in, before somebody comes along and notices them. Growing in an apartment is high risk, and stealth is called for.

fabric softener is the shit, if any of you have ever smoke using a paper towel roll and stuffed  it with fabric soft there is no smell.... period just fresh rain smell, try and using fabric soft on area of room where air escapes. Tape the fabric soft and it will filter the smell or make a home made carbon filter with a inline fan and fabirc soft. be creative bitches.

Fabric softener is a good inexpensive tip. I think Id have some ozium around just in case or when you know you have vistors coming.

That liitle crap at the front counter at home depot doesnt do squat--and they also had something like lava rocks--I thought it was going to solve it all--been better buying those glade plugins--and both wont do it. Think I also tried something like Onu-gel?  not enough.

You get a bulk of fabric softener--make some kinda large art project using it --and that might be a good cover for why you have all this stuff laying around. OR --tell them your sick, contagious and stay away for about 8 more weeks Grin

DOPE....Its whats for dinner!

they also make these 5"x5" air fresheners that you attatch to the air filter in your house.Just remove the grill and hang it on, it lasts for maybe a couple weeks if you get one thats a noticebly different smell.Meaning, dont get a pine tree or fresh air scented one if you live in Georgia or somewhere like that.

i use replacement Hepa Carbon Air Filter pads that you can buy in packs of 4 and 6 at walmart for under 10 bucks. i use them two layers thick and they last about a month. u can save on them if you only start using them during flowering because at least with my plants there was only a slight earthy or vegetative plant smell during veg. although i smoke cigarettes and burn incense in my room so that smell was practically unnoticeable. but as i said they are only really needed during flowering because then they tend to reak Grin. although personally i miss that sweet smell of homegrown buds. hope i could help.peace
