Sounds like your second attempt is going much better.  We had some storms and I had the same fear.  When I checked them I did find two that had been blown over.  Nothing broken, just laid over from the wind and heavy rain.  And yes, they will smell before flowering.  Some strains more than others.

yes, it is going much better this time around! How tall do you let your plants get before you plant them in the ground?

This plant is an average plant of the bunch... there is just about as many plants smaller than this as there is bigger in my group of plants. Let me know what you think!

Excellent looking plant.  K+.  I would let that one grow another set of leaves before planting.  I like to have at least 3 good sets of leaves which puts them around 8" or so.  When I transplant I like to lightly water them first so the soil sticks together better.  I scoop out the soil so that when I set the plant the potting soil is about an inch below the surface, then back fill and cover all the potting soil.  Then water everything.  Try not to disturb the roots.  Also, I like to transplant in the late afternoon so they are not sitting out in the full sun all of their first day.  That seems to work good as I've had little or no transplant shock.

You're welcome.  I'll bet you're excited, especially after what happened to the first ones.  You should still be able to get a good crop from them.

Couple questions...

What are those first two leaves called that are just rounded when the plant first sprouts?

and

those leaves described above on one plant are startin to turn yellow and brown on the tips... the plant looks great... should I be concerned?

The scientific name for those little leaves is "cotyledon leaves" but I agree with Muddy ...seed leaves is better because I can't pronounce cotylendon and don't know many scientists that I'll discuss mj growing with....
