Outdoor Diesel Ryder and Auto Hindu Kush Grow Report

My lone Hindu Kush plant is sick.  The top of the kola started to turn brown, starting with the leaves and working into the buds.  And it's spreading down the kola.  I can't see any sign of any type of insect nor do the symptoms match up to anything I could find here.  I'm thinking of either topping it to see if that stops the downward spread or just pulling it before the whole plant is ruined.  Any ideas as to what might be causing this.

I did pull some of the dead leaves off the top last night and smoked them up.  Pretty good considering that the plant probably won't be fully ready for another week or so.

I don't know what is causing that but, if it only has a week left in flower you could go head and cut the top off and harvest the rest of it. Then  make hash with it.
You could add it into the rest of your dry trimings and make bubble-hash.

It won't go to waste.  I"m going to give it until tomorrow and if it's still getting worse I'll probably just pull the plant.  There's only about 1/2 oz. on it but at least we'll get a good taste.

Good to see you back.  Hope things are settling down for you.  Ya, I saw BO on his apology tour.  Is he that naive that he really thinks that he can reason with those people?  They will turn around and stick it up his butt first chance they get.

Getting late in the season for an outdoor grow, so indoors it may have to be.  Widow is always a good choice.  I'm almost out of what I grew year before last.  Going to have to grow some more next year.  That potent Afgani sounds good.  Save me some.

The Hindu Kush is very tasty.  I ended up cutting the top off of it last night in the hope that the rest of it will continue to mature.  I pollinated the lower branches and there are seed pods, so I'm still hoping to get good seeds off of it.  The top was already so dry the Mrs. and I were able to smoke it in a bowl.  We sat outside until almost 10 last night hitting it.  I'm still buzzed this morning.   

I've seen the one with BO and the mushroom cloud.  It baffled me during the campaign that something like 80% of the Jews were backing BO.  From my personal experience living and working with them up north I know they tend to be liberal and vote democrat but couldn't they see what he was going to do?  Even though Israel depends on this country for support they will do what they have to in order to protect themselves.

That sounds killer muddy!! This Toronto weed is killer too but I cant wait until the cup winner. Being able to smoke it this fall is awesome. Its supposed to taste like lemons big time. That will be interesting. How is th AUH doing? I have a interest in that one big time too. Looks like work is picking up just started slow I guess. I think I'll have a few more weeks up here then its off to Indy for the rest of the summer. Horrific damage that only us select few can handle. Its the kinda storm I like because guys come and go cause they cant fix the damage, so  sit there for months fixing bad damage. You know Im old school so hard work doesnt scare me ..LOL

Had my first taste of Diesel Ryder last night.  I found one of the lower branches of one plant had turned brown the same way the top of the Hindu Kush did so I cut it off.  Got enough to fill the bowl on my bubbler so the Mrs. and I smoked that last night.  This was one of the branches I had pollinated and even still it was very potent.  Also got about 15 seeds from it.  All of them weren't completely mature yet but at least 4-5 look like they will be viable.  The trics are starting to turn cloudy so it looks like I'll be able to harvest all of it in another week or so. 

Wish I could figure out what is causing this die off on some of the branches.  I can't see any insects but did notice on the Diesel that the stems were completely white.  I'd love to take it down to the county agricultural agent and get his opinion but I obviously just can't walk in and ask if he can tell me what's hurting my weed.  Anyone ever run across this?

The Hindu Kush plant continued to turn brown even after topping the affected part so I pulled it yesterday and hung to dry.  I also harvested one of the three Diesel Ryders.  The trics were getting nice and amber and the leaves were turning purple, so it was time.  Going to let the other two DRs go a few more days, maybe another week.

Start to finish they took 13 weeks or 85 days.  I'm guessing it would have been about 2 weeks less if the weather had cooperated and I had been able to transplant them sooner. 

Mixed a little HK with some Columbian Red Haze and smoked it last night.  Knocked me on my ass.

Im getting so interested in these LRs 85 days isnt bad but sooner is always better.  the browning problem is wierd too and the white stems.  Maybe just something that LRs do because they got some differnt genes, they got some wierd germ problems too so maybe just the seed?

I think indoors under lights you can get them to full maturity in the 10 weeks they advertise.  Mine are getting about 9 hours of direct sun and another 4 of indirect right now. 

I didn't experience either problem last year but those were planted directly into soil in my garden.  I'm learning this year that growing in pots is different and I've got to pay closer attention to pH, nutes, etc.  So I'm thinking that maybe it's related to that.

Harvested my last Diesel Ryder a couple days ago and it's drying now.  Yesterday I had some time to manicure and process the other two DRs and the 1 Hindu Kush.  The buds are fluffy, very similar to what I had last year from the LR II.  The small leaves surrounding the buds are heavily coated with trics and well worth saving.  I also discovered the source of what has been causing the fan leaves to die early, spider mites.  Found the tell tale cotton like web inside one of the buds.  It was so well hidden I couldn't see it until I started processing the bud.  Going to pick up some insecticidal soap today and treat my other plants with it.

Picked out all the seeds from the lower buds.  So far, off the two DRs, I have 62 seeds.  All but about 6 are dark brown and look to be very viable.  I estimate I should end up with around 80 DR seeds after I process the third plant.  Got 20 good seeds from the HK.  At approximately $65 for a 10 pack of DR seeds, that's around $500 worth of seeds!  If I continue to get about 20 seeds per plant I should end up with over 300 seeds from all my plants.  Next year I intend to be more selective and only pollinate the best plants, instead of every plant as I've done this year. 

Yields are below what I had hoped for.  The DRs are averaging about 1/2 oz. per plant and the HK about 1/3 oz.  At planting time I didn't have the $ to buy the best potting and growing mediums so had to make due with what I had.  That won't be the case for the AK47 x Blueberry that are just about ready to transplant.  It will be interesting to see how much better they do.
