"my friend" decided to invest in a lighting system. 1000 MH for veg and 1000 HPS for flowering. "they" have a 2.5'x4.5'x6' for a nursery with a florescent for the seedlings and a room that is 6'x6'x7'. I figured it as length x width x height. Currently an exhaust fan about 12x12" is being stalled in the grow room with cross ventilation.
So far there are 24 seedlings and a few of them are getting their second shoot of leaves. They are 1 week old from first week of sowing and seem to be going pretty well. Is it too early to get them under the MH and add some nutrients?
Also I would like to post pics. I am working on it...

hi seeanew1, nice choice with the 1000 watter.if ur growing in soil they should be ok for 3 weeks b4 u start to feed nutes, then only feed half the recommended dose till their a little bigger. or you can repot them into bigger pots with new soil and there good for a few weeks, no need to feed for a while.less chance of burning them at a young age which a lot of peeps do..what soil are you using.?
as for ur light just make sure that it's not to close to the little seedlings about 3 ft should do till their a little bigger.. watt are you growing strain wise.?..

The light is about 3 feet from my babies. The leaves have a bit of yellow (not much).
We used organic potting mix. We did get Tomato Miracle Grow and diluted it to 50%, every other watering. Per a book I read by Ed Rosenthal. I am looking at trying to go more organic and am looking for a site that sells better nutrients.
Here is a peek at 1 1/2 weeks from planting.

nice growth for 2 days, to early to feed yet. when you pot up you they wont need feeding for about 3 weeks just plain water, give um a little flush, gently run water through the pots till the run off is clear.
you will also wash out the nutes that where in the soil originally,so when they dry out you might want to pot up.. fresh soil and water, dint kill um with kindness it's so easy to do.lol.. Ive done it, that 1000 watt will cost you an arm and a leg to run for 18 hours a day.are you in a position where you can veg outdoors or on a window cill..just thinking of the cost..
peace.

Run both 1K's in flower, your room is plenty big enough if you can handle the air. A 400MH is plenty for veg, way more than needed for seedlings and clones even. Your plants look real healthy but to be honest I've never heard many good words said about Miracle Grow raising our Mary Jane without some serious iss ue of one kind or another. I am hydro so I'll leave that to the dirt guys but start looking for alternatives that are available to you.
Keep us posted,
jj

Lets see if this works now... I told my better half that we needed to limit our garden to 12 as that is the medical limit where we are. He didn't have the heart to throw any out yet, as he was nervous that he would throw away the females. We debated doubling them up in 5 gallon buckets, but in the end he did it while I was on vacation. He couldn't let any of them go, so he stuck the lesser ones in gallon buckets... Here is one of the plants that had yellowed a bit. The new growth looks good and so does the overall health of the plant. I think it might have been stress...any input on that? They are 3 1/2 weeks old. They are just bag seed... They are about 10" tall... We bought the Fox Farm Grow Big Nuts...how often should we use it? Should we dilute it or use as directed? When should we flower? And one last question...do males show their sex prior to being forced to flower? Appreciate the help!

First off, K+ on the pics. Good looking smoke.
Yield was small for a 1k watter/5 gal buckets... How long did u flower? What did you use and how often on nutes? How did you determine your time of harvest?

We flowered for 75-80 days. We started fox farm "grow big" and "big bloom" (I think they are called). They burnt a bit at first so hubby backed off and went down to only 50% every other feeding for a while. There was also a 2 week period where we ran out of nutes. Also the timer is on the fritz and has been turning on during the night a few times the last few weeks.
