We transplanted our "weaker" looking plants into one gallon jugs. We started fertalizing them at 2 weeks and think we might have burnt them a bit as they started to yellow. The came around in about 4 days and turned green again. They were on 24hr 1000w until 6 weeks and then put on a 12 by 12 schedule. My hubby only put 50% FoxFarm products on every other watering. You could see that the plants were root bound. The tops were nice nuggets with some mini buds going along the stalk (hubby went crazy with the pruning)
Well anyway, we harvested when about 75% of the hairs were brown. We let it dry for two days. It gives a light happy buzz but isn't that potent. Could it be due to the stress. I know now that several of the above shouldn't have happened. But was wondering if it could affect it that much. The commercial bag bud had a much more intense longer lasting buzz.

You may have picked them a little early. Going by the color of the hairs isn't the most reliable way. Get a 10x magnifying glass and look at the crystals. Wait until at least 20% have turned amber for a head high and 50% or more for more of a body stone. Also by that time all of the fan leaves will have died off, along with some of the other, bigger leaves.

yeah what muddy said, plus you dried it to quick you should leave it dry for 10 to 14 days in the dark with a fan moving air around it, it gets better with a cure aswell..

I think we are just to quick too. We are going to get the magnifying glass tonight. You don't think those other things played a role in it?

I doubt it. Personally I like to leave most strains until the crystals are 50% or more amber. If I picked them when the hairs were 75% brown/red I doubt that any of the crystsals would have turned by then. By picking so early you missed a lot of the final THC production that takes place near the end of the plants life cycle resulting in less potent buds.

Sorry to say this but odds are your plants lack potency. Since your now legal buy some good seeds, Sensi seeds or white label sell mixed seed packs with 25 seeds per pack for less then a hundred bucks. The odds are very good that one of those plants will become your clone mother of choice.
Best of luck.

We went an bought a hand held micro scope. The crystals are starting to swell on top, but they still look clear. We are going to give it a while yet. We are thinking about using this as a trial run and harvest a few at different intervals.

I did that this year with some auto Diesel Ryders and auto White Russians. I had 3 plants of each and picked them at about 7 days intervals. There was a noticeable difference in potency and high. I was also forced to pick some of my Super Lemon Haze and Train Wreck early because of spider mite infestation. Again, the ones I was able to leave longer were more potent and had more body stone, which I prefer. Since this is your first grow it's probably a good idea to harvest like that so you can learn what your preference is.

Good news! It was a timing thing. We have been harvesting at about every 4 days. We have been having alot of fun sampling them. My girlfriend came over and tried one of the milder ones and labeled it the chronic and said that it could easily go for 60 an 1/8. We don't sell, but I felt pretty proud since they are like my babies.
We bought a hand held microscope for 12 bucks at radio shack and are amazed at the difference. This is our first grow and you learn so much. All of our plants grew more white hairs after 50% of their first batch turned brown/red. One has so many hairs I'm almost afraid to smoke it. It looks pretty wicked.
I'll put some pics up in my grow report!

It's funny, but I'm a bit proud. When my friend was saying how good it was, I felt like I was at parent teacher conference and my child was on the honor roll!

LOL, I know the feeling. I've had several friends tell me that I've spoiled them to the point that they can't smoke commercial weed anymore.
