Ok, so my blue cheese is about to begin flowering. The picture of what its supposed to look like,on the site they came from, shows a distinct purple stem.I dont see that yet on mine, but one of the fan leaf 'branches' is turning a little dark.So-as the title says-how do you know when its normal and when its a problem of some sort?   The only thing that i may not keep right as far as growing is the temp.I know that lately its been to warm(hence the curling tips in the pics), but i moved them a few inches away and that seems to be ok now.And at night when the lights are off, it may get a little cooler thanit should.Just curious as to when the main stem will begin to darken so i wont freak out n try to correct something that doesnt need it..

Coloration of the stems and stalks primarily occurs when the night temps get cool.  Ran a blueberry cross for a couple of years and the only time I got that true blueberry color was during the winter months.

Hope this helps DevilDawg.

The tops of some of my branches(mainly on fan leaves) are turning dark, kinda purplish..think its from temps? And i dont know what the temps get in the closet during off hours..Also, the bases of the plants are turning tan colored, not sure if thats from the dirt i had around them being watered away or what its from..But the base is as big around as my thumb, so happy with that at,at least i wont need stakes..

Top of the branches and throughout will change colour as it matures   ......  Your purple color comes from the lower temps when the lights are off

yeah, i figured it was temps..was just making sure..in 3rd week of flowering(i think, may be 2nd) but already showing pistils and was wondering when the blueberry was gonna start showing itself..The outside temps keep changing so much that one day ill have the fans on in the closet full blast and the next turning them off and the heater on,even with the light..but looking great, think i can trim a few of the fan leaves at once(since ive read where trimming more than a couple@once  isnt great for the plant)

you should be seeing buds by week 3 , long as the plant dont experience temps lower than 16c it will be fine ... I rip off some of the dead fan leaf along the way to give light to the lower branches but not overdoing it

Mine hit the 4 week mark yesterday

well, none of mine are dying, even at the bottom-a few very small ones around the base have, but none others..theyre all doing good actually..and yeah im starting to see buds forming in between all the nodes and everything. But I wanna cut some of the fan leaves around the top off. Watering maybe every 3 days with TigerBloom n distilled water..should i water ever with just regular water, maybe every other watering?or just keep watering every time with nutes?

I use regular water for keeping the soil from drying out ect  and add nutes  every 3days .. id not bother to cut the top fan leaves as the plant needs them , moreso the top than the bottom ....

I don't like to take off any of the fan leaves, even if they are shading the buds.  They are the main engines for photosynthesis and are contributing to bud growth.  Let nature take it's course.  They will die off when the plant doesn't need them anymore.
